FAQ
Every patient has questions, especially when they're visiting a new dental office. We've answered some of the questions we hear most often below, but if there's anything else you'd like to know, don't hesitate to reach out. We're always happy to help.
First Visit
Feeling nervous is more common than you might think. We'll take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you, explain what's happening along the way, and make sure you have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Our goal is to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.
Whenever possible, we'll do our best to coordinate family appointments to make dental visits more convenient. Give us a call, and we'll be happy to discuss scheduling options.
There's no judgment here. Whether it's been six months or several years, we're simply glad you've decided to prioritize your oral health. We'll start where you are and recommend care based on your current needs.
Family & General Dentistry
Many dental concerns don't cause noticeable symptoms until they've become more advanced. Routine exams allow us to monitor your oral health and identify changes early, when they're often easier to treat.
Many fillings and crowns can last for years, but they don't last forever. During your routine visits, we'll check your existing dental work for signs of wear or damage and let you know if replacement is recommended.
Absolutely. If you've received a diagnosis or treatment recommendation elsewhere, we're happy to provide a second opinion. We'll evaluate your oral health, explain what we see, and help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision.
Cosmetic Dentistry
That's always our goal. Whether you're considering teeth whitening, veneers, or another cosmetic treatment, we'll recommend options that complement your natural smile rather than making it look overdone.
Absolutely. Cosmetic treatment doesn't have to involve a complete smile makeover. Many patients simply want to improve one or two teeth, and we'll help you explore the options that best fit what you'd like to achieve.
We'll start by talking about what you'd like to improve and evaluating your smile. From there, we'll explain your options and recommend treatment that's appropriate for your goals, oral health, and lifestyle.
Orthodontics
In some cases, yes. If you're concerned about a small gap, mild crowding, or teeth that have shifted over time, clear aligners may be an option. We'll evaluate your smile and let you know whether treatment is right for you.
It's common for teeth to shift over time, even if you've had braces in the past. Depending on your needs, clear aligners may be a simple way to improve your smile.
Most patients find that clear aligners fit easily into everyday life. Since they're removable, you can take them out for meals, brushing, and flossing before placing them back in afterward.
Emergency Dentistry
When you call our office, we'll ask about your symptoms and provide guidance on how to care for the area until you're able to come in.
If your emergency happens outside of our regular office hours, please leave us a message. If you're experiencing severe pain, significant swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or another medical emergency, seek immediate medical care. We'll respond as soon as we're able and help determine the next steps.
Yes. If something doesn't feel right, we'd rather you call than try to figure it out on your own. We'll ask a few questions and help you determine the most appropriate next step.
TMJ Treatment
Not necessarily. Jaw discomfort can have several possible causes. We'll evaluate your symptoms to better understand what's contributing to your discomfort before recommending treatment.
Sometimes. Jaw tension and bite problems can contribute to headaches for some patients. We'll evaluate your symptoms and discuss whether your jaw may be involved.
For some patients, yes. When appropriate, Dr. Campisano may work alongside our in-house physical therapist, who specializes in treating conditions affecting the head, neck, and jaw. This collaborative approach allows us to provide care that's tailored to your specific needs.
Sleep Dentistry
Yes. Your sleep physician will continue managing your diagnosis and overall treatment. Our role is to provide and monitor your oral appliance while working collaboratively with your healthcare team.
A sleep study is the first step in diagnosing a sleep-related breathing disorder. If you haven't had one and you're concerned about your sleep, we can discuss your symptoms and help guide you toward the appropriate medical evaluation.
We'll show you how to clean and care for your oral appliance so it stays comfortable and functions properly. We'll also check its fit during your routine dental visits and make adjustments if needed.
Appointments
Your first visit gives us the opportunity to get to know you and understand your oral health needs. We'll review your dental and medical history, complete any necessary examinations, discuss any concerns you have, and recommend next steps if treatment is needed.
We understand that plans can change. Simply give us a call as soon as possible, and we'll be happy to help you find another appointment time.
The length of your first visit depends on the reason for your appointment. We'll make sure there's enough time to evaluate your needs, discuss any recommendations, and answer your questions without making you feel rushed.
